The run up to the holiday season is choked full of great concerts. Things start off this coming Saturday with the YOLA at EXPO Orchestra Concert. All 3 orchestras perform with our flagship ECHO performing a couple of movements from Tchakovsky’s 2nd Symphony. The music continues on Sunday with my first concert with the Pasadena Young Musicians Orchestra, as they open the fall season with a performance of Gershwin’s “An American in Paris.” Then it’s off to Visalia where we start rehearsals for our “Night at the Opera” program featuring four amazing opera singers and our special guest on violin (direct from Russia) for the Sarasate/Bizet Carmen Fantasy and Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso. Following that, the graduate student ensemble of the Bard/Longy MAT program (MATCO) performs Stravinsky’s “Suite No. 1” for small orchestra, Bartok’s “Romanian Folk Dances” and other folk inspired music. It’s a busy couple of weeks to be sure, but such great music! Feeling very lucky to be a busy, busy musician…
