Beautiful “Scheherezade” in Owensboro

Fun, exciting and charming week with the great staff, board, and musicians of the Owensboro Symphony. Lots of great community meetings and two fun days in schools as part of a jam-packed and fun-filled series of days. Capping off the week was Saturday night’s concert in RiverPark Center. The orchestra played a beautiful and moving performance of “Scheherazade.” Such beautiful playing from the entire orchestra, but some especially moving solos from the winds–and I won’t soon forget the passionate and beautiful playing of Concertmaster Patrick Rafferty, playing the title character. My friend Andrew Tyson also joined us for a great performance of the Rachmaninoff Paganini Variations–a first time for us to do this piece together. All in all–basking in the glow of a great, great week!
