Simón Bolívar Orchestra of Venezuela Side-by-Side with YOLA orchestras As part of the LA Phil’s TchaikovskyFest, the Simón Bolívar Orchestra of Venezuela joins orchestras from both YOLA @ EXPO and YOLA @ HOLA in a complete performance of Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 2, known as the “Little Russian” for its use of Ukrainian Folk Songs as it’s inspiration. Stairway of the Stars Orchestra Celebrating 65 years, the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District has produced an annual musical extravaganza to share the outstanding music education programs in the district with the community that provides much of the support. The district’s excellent music programs are featured in three nights of concerts called “Stairway of the Stars” at Santa Monica High School’s historic Barnum Hall auditorium. MATCO Performs Stravinsky, Bartok, others The graduate student ensemble of the Bard/Longy MAT program (MATCO) performs for the YOLA @ HOLA community in a program inspired by song repertoire. Included are the folk song influenced works of Stravinsky and Bartok, as well as classical and pop songs inspired selections as well.
