Great Movies/Great Music: Escapes and Escapades Feb 20, 2016 Our wildly popular series “Great Movies/Great Music” returns with music from the great adventure films. We showcase music from some of today’s (and yesterday’s) most popular and exciting composers. The music of John Williams takes center stage, joined by two other Rock Star composers and Hollywood heavy-weights, Hans Zimmer and Danny Elfman. Enigmatic Portraits Jan 23, 2016 Like a caricaturist at Venice Beach, Elgar gives us short portraits of his extended group of friends in this varied and charming series of variations—representing the best qualities of each person. Pianist Andrew Tyson blew us all away two years ago with Rachmaninoff’s Second concerto, and returns this year with the same composer’s earlier effort.

Fire and Ice Nov 21, 2015 Missing from our programs in recent seasons has been the music of Sibelius. On the occasion of his centennial, the TCSO joins in the celebra- tion. Also on the program, we continue our Beethoven series, with the brilliantly exciting 4th Symphony. Not to be missed, it is an old favorite for some and a new favorite for the newbies! Danielle Belen returns with her violin to play the 20th century’s best violin concerto.
