Tchaikovsky Mini-Festival: Sunday The Adrian Symphony presents our first every mini-festival. We’ll explore the music of Tchaikovsky in three distinct programs. We begin with the brilliant playing of Dominic Cheli as he shares a program of solo piano works by and inspired by Tchaikovsky. Saturday night, we’ll hear Tchaikovsky’s Russian songs for Mezzo-Soprano and piano, presented Kristin Boggs Clark accompanied by Phil Clark on piano. The American West The Adrian Symphony opens this year with an all-American program of beloved favorites, old and new. Anchoring the program is everyone’s favorite American ballet, “Appalachian Spring,” but it’s joined by two fascinating works: one new and one old. Premiered just this past April, the new violin concerto “The Rose of Sonora,” is a spaghetti western set to a musical score that follows a narrative throughout this colorful story of the American west, bank robbery, a classic double-cross, and revenge. Carmina Burana May 3, 2019 We close our orchestral season in Adrian with the spectacular oratorio, “Carmina Burana.” Featuring a chorus of more than 100 singers from a combination of several local choirs, this concert is sure to blow the roof of the auditorium. Prior to the intermission, we have a return visit of Conni Elisor, for a performance of her second concerto for Dulcimer, “Broad Bands of Light.”

The Planets @ SPAC Aug 18, 2018 Summer #3 wraps up for me with “The Planets” and more. Approximately 90 of the finest public and private high school musicians in New York State are selected through auditions to study and rehearse for a month with the world-class musicians of the Philadelphia Orchestra. These high school students comprise the second symphony orchestra in residence at Saratoga. The School of Orchestral Studies, which is co-sponsored by the New York State School Music Association(link is external), the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, and the Philadelphia Orchestra Association.
