Enigmatic Portraits

Like a caricaturist at Venice Beach, Elgar gives us short portraits of his extended group of friends in this varied and charming series of variations—representing the best qualities of each person. Pianist Andrew Tyson blew us all away two years ago with Rachmaninoff’s Second concerto, and returns this year with the same composer’s earlier effort.
