“Escapades” escapes the winter

Usually, our film night is more of a pops night. This month, though, we shook things up by adding a concerto taken from a movie score with John Williams’ “Escapdes” from “Catch Me If You Can.” Guest saxophonist Jonathan Hulting Cohen was brilliant and shown (in collaboration with our own principal percussionist, Michael Downing on vibes) in this exciting, colorful and beautiful work for orchestra and soloist. Oh…and did I mention the symphony raised almost $12,000 with out “text your symphony” fund drive? What a great night!
