On Saturday night, the TCSO presented a first half of music by living composers…a first in a long time for them. Beautiful and passionate playing in both the Tan Dun: YouTube Symphony “Eroica” and a audience pleasing work by Mason Bates, “Desert Transport.” A great performance of Beethoven’s own “Eroica” was the second half before we brought the audience to their feet (a second time after the standing ovation for Beethoven) with “Estancia” as the encore.
